SmackDown 17.05.2024

Finally, the Radiant Team has come back to Jacksonville, Florida! 🌴 Tonight, we are live from VyStar Veterans Memorial Arena, and this place is red-hot thanks to the second round of the King and Queen of the Ring tournament! I’m expecting some bangers tonight — including the long-awaited face-to-face between the American Nightmare Cody Rhodes and his future opponent, the Maverick Logan Paul. Let’s get it started, baby!

Queen of the Ring – 2nd Round: Bianca Belair (C) vs Tiffany Stratton

Tiffany handled Michin at SuperShow, and now she’s stepping up to the EST of WWE. Honestly? I thought this match would be close — Tiffany’s been on fire lately — but Bianca came in looking physically dominant from the start, clearly working as the number one woman here. She immediately put the pressure on, making Tiffy defend herself for most of the early match.

SmackDown 17.05.2024 post image 1SmackDown 17.05.2024 - Tiffany Stratton’s double stomp — a signature move that could totally change the momentum of the match!

But then… Tiffy flipped the script! She used Bianca’s signature braid against her, dropped her knee over the ropes, and slammed her injured leg into the steel steps! 😬 Shades of last week’s injury came back to haunt the champ. Still, Bianca fought like a warrior — landing some nasty combos and blocking almost all of Tiffany’s offense. A huge spinebuster almost sealed it, but Tiffy kicked out!

Bianca looked ready to finish it with the KOD, but Stratton dodged and hit a brutal double stomp of her own. It became clear Tiffany couldn’t win clean — so she raked the eyes and hit a slick sliding clothesline. But it wasn’t enough. Bianca landed the KOD and pinned the self-proclaimed Center of the Universe! ✨

SmackDown 17.05.2024 post image 2SmackDown 17.05.2024 - Bianca’s Kiss of Death silenced Stratton and secured her spot in the semi-finals!

What. A. Match. Bianca advances to the Queen of the Ring finals! And now the big question is… will it be Jade Cargill or Nia Jax waiting for her? 👀

King of the Ring – 2nd Round: Tama Tonga vs LA Knight

Time to see who’s going to Round 3 — the Megastar LA Knight, or the Bloodline’s own wild card Tama Tonga. Backstage, Solo Sikoa told Paul Heyman he’s still been in contact with Roman Reigns since WrestleMania XL… and you could see that just broke Heyman’s heart. 💔

SmackDown 17.05.2024 post image 3SmackDown 17.05.2024 - This footage leaves me speechless. Is Solo seriously obsessed with LA Knight?

Can LA Knight pull this off? I thought YEAH! But with Solo and Loa lurking around, the odds were always shady. Tama went for the slow burn — cutting off LA’s speed with sleepers and surprise clotheslines, while the crowd chanted: “We want Roman!”

The tide shifted when Solo and Loa jumped on the apron, distracting Knight long enough for Tama to drive him hard into the ring post. 😤 LA barely survived the onslaught and started turning things around with a pop-up powerslam and his jumping elbow drop. It was BFT time — but Tama rolled out of the ring!

SmackDown 17.05.2024 post image 4SmackDown 17.05.2024 - Tama Tonga capitalized on the Bloodline’s help and moved on to the semifinals.

That delay cost LA big time. As he got back in the ring, Tama caught him with his signature DDT and stole the win. 😡 Huge upset. Tonga moves to Round 3, and LA Knight is out. Damn.

Contract Signing: Cody Rhodes and Logan Paul

The United States Champion Logan Paul strutted to the ring with his entourage, clearly trying to flex in front of the American Nightmare. But let me ask a question — why doesn’t Cody ever wear his title around his waist? 🤔 The Tribal Chief always wore his with pride. Is Cody just holding that belt for now, or does he truly own it? Just a thought.

SmackDown 17.05.2024 post image 5SmackDown 17.05.2024 - For the first time ever, someone ripped a contract to shreds and walked away with their demands met!

Anyway, Cody kicked things off with a history lesson — 32 years ago in this same arena, we saw the greatest WarGames match ever. Then Cody addressed Logan directly, calling him a “wrestling tourist” and vowing to throw him off the train at the upcoming PLE, where he’ll finally become a Grand Slam Champion by taking the one title missing from his collection — the U.S. Championship. 🏆🔥

Logan’s response? Childish. He ripped the contract in half, refusing to defend his title. What a cowardly move. 🤡 He tried to pressure Nick Aldis, but the GM wasn’t having any of it. Cody, fired up and done with Logan’s disrespect, signed the contract anyway, promising to beat his ass.

SmackDown 17.05.2024 post image 6SmackDown 17.05.2024 - "Get your punk ass out of my ring, dumbass!"

Logan’s crew attempted a sneak attack, but it completely backfired — Cody slammed one of them through a table in an explosive moment! 💥 Way better than last Cody's contract signing with AJ Styles. But man, Logan Paul is becoming more unbearable each week, even for me!

Queen of the Ring – 2nd Round: Nia Jax vs Jade Cargill

Another big-time battle between two extremely powerful women 💪. Last week, Cargill already tested herself against someone close to Nia’s size, so I had a good feeling that this could set up a dream clash between the tag champs in the next round. Let’s see…

Right out of the gate, both women flexed their strength, tossing each other around the ring like absolute powerhouses. But something stood out — Jade’s daughter was ringside. Could that presence become a critical distraction?

SmackDown 17.05.2024 post image 7SmackDown 17.05.2024 - Poor Jade’s daughter. After that, I wouldn’t be surprised if she starts seeing that scary monster in her dreams.

The action escalated quickly when Nia cleared off the commentary table, seemingly ready to send Jade crashing through it! Then, in a wild twist, Nia tried to grab a steel chair — but Jade blocked the shot and smashed Nia with the weapon instead! 😳 DING DING DING — Disqualification.

SmackDown 17.05.2024 post image 8SmackDown 17.05.2024 - Jade failed to keep her emotions in check, and that mistake cost her the match with Bianca Belair.

Because of the DQ, Nia Jax advances to the finals to face Bianca Belair. But this match wasn’t over… both women kept brawling furiously, showing just how personal this fight had become. Tonight, Nia didn’t overpower Jade — she outsmarted her.

DIY vs Legado Del Fantasma

This match probably should've determined the next challengers for A-Town Down Under’s tag titles, so both teams had a lot riding on this. But come on… for me, there’s no debate who should win this — DIY all the way 🙌.

SmackDown 17.05.2024 post image 9SmackDown 17.05.2024 - Angel had his moments, sure—but let’s be honest, he was nowhere near winning it for his crew.

Tommaso and Johnny had a solid rhythm going, looking slick with their signature teamwork. But of course, Santos Escobar and Elektra Lopez couldn’t help themselves and got involved mid-match 😤. Thankfully, the referee wasn’t blind and ejected both of them from ringside! With the distractions gone, DIY sealed the deal with a Meeting in the Middle on Humberto for the win! 💥

SmackDown 17.05.2024 post image 10SmackDown 17.05.2024 - Swiftshot Harpoon was the warning shot—and the Meeting in the Middle crashed in right after!

Once again, Tommaso and Johnny are back in the title hunt. But honestly? I can’t help but feel like they’re endless contenders at this point — always close to gold, never holding it for long. Let’s see where this tag division is heading…

King of the Ring – 2nd Round: Randy Orton vs Carmelo Hayes

Two weeks in a row, the Apex Predator headlines SmackDown! 🐍 And tonight, he faces one of the Blue Brand’s most promising young stars — Carmelo Hayes, who’s full of swagger and ambition. But standing in his way is a damaged but dangerous Legend Killer. Randy came in with taped-up knees, still feeling the effects of his war with AJ Styles. Carmelo noticed that and smartly targeted the leg, looking for a way to take the veteran down.

SmackDown 17.05.2024 post image 11SmackDown 17.05.2024 - Hayes tried his best to focus injured knee of a Legend Killer.

But then… Carmelo did the dumbest thing imaginable. He spit into his own hand… and slapped Randy across the face. 😳

BIG mistake. That only lit a fire in Orton, who exploded with fury and slammed Hayes onto the commentary table to teach him some respect. Classic Viper.

Back in the ring, Carmelo regained control for a while. Gotta give him credit — he’s quick, cocky, and unpredictable. But that cockiness? That’s his biggest weakness. Melo kept showboating too much, and it gave Randy the opening he needed.

SmackDown 17.05.2024 post image 12SmackDown 17.05.2024 - Randy never misses his chance to turn the tide with a perfectly timed counterattack.

Hayes tried to steal the win with a roll-up… but instead got caught in an RKO outta nowhere!! 💀Beautiful. Perfect. Deadly. Randy Orton strikes with venom and advances to face Tama Tonga in the next round!

Right after the match, The Bloodline arrived — looking ready to jump the Legend Killer right there in the ring. But Orton wasn’t backing down. He stunned them with a fired-up promo, saying he’ll shove his boot straight up Tama Tonga’s ass! 🔥🔥🔥

Whew! What a moment.

Final Thoughts

Another episode of the Blue Brand didn’t let me down—it gave me exactly what I expected: great matches, continued storylines, and even some unexpected twists of fate!

EST is still on top of her game 👑

An absolute banger between two physically gifted women gave me a lot of emotions and high expectations. The moment when Tiffany blinded Bianca felt like the turning point—I was almost sure Stratton had it. But nope. The tag champ is just too experienced and powerful to let things slip like that. 💪 Still, I’ve gotta give props—Stratton showed she’s a legit threat, and everyone better take notice.

SmackDown 17.05.2024 post image 5SmackDown 17.05.2024 - Belair barely escaped with a win, but her injured leg is a ticking time bomb for her next fight

Bloodline is marching to the semifinals ☠️

This match really had me torn. On one hand, you've got the Megastar LA Knight, who’s been racking up great performances. On the other? The Bloodline mafia, who’ll stop at nothing to push Tama Tonga into the finals. If this had been fair, LA Knight would've won—no question about it. But Solo and Loa did what they always do—interfere and steal moments. Now I’m curious: Will LA Knight go after the Bloodline next? Or maybe that backstage stare-down with Logan Paul will lead to a U.S. Title chase? 👀 Either way, I’ll be watching his next move closely.

SmackDown 17.05.2024 post image 6SmackDown 17.05.2024 - The Bloodline keeps rising, tightening their grip on the Blue Brand!

Logan Paul is a... chicken? 🐔

We’ve got champion vs champion, and I was expecting both titles on the line. But of course, Logan Paul proved once again that he’s a juicy little coward. Cody may not have earned a U.S. Title shot the traditional way, but Logan has done NOTHING to deserve a crack at the Universal Championship either. He wins by cheating and brass knuckles. I can’t wait to see Cody whoop his ass on PLE. This contract signing delivered exactly the kind of tension I wanted.

SmackDown 17.05.2024 post image 15SmackDown 17.05.2024 - Logan's face says it all—he’s completely thrown off and clearly didn’t expect that level of aggression from Cody Rhodes.

Nia spoiled a dream match for the WWE Universe 💔

Like I always say, Nia Jax is here to destroy—people, tables, and big moments. If Jade had won tonight, we could’ve seen a historic tag champs face-off in the Queen of the Ring semifinals. But nope—Jax went after Jade’s mind and emotions, using her daughter as a distraction. I’ll give Nia some credit—she played dirty and smart. And now with Bianca’s injured leg, Nia might slither her way into the finals. Please, WWE gods—don’t let her become Queen

SmackDown 17.05.2024 post image 16SmackDown 17.05.2024 - With nothing else left, Jade unloaded all her frustration on Nia Jax after the match.

DIY are next in line? 🎯

Without much trouble, Tommaso and Johnny advanced to face A-Town Down Under. My expectations? The champs will pull off another dirty win. Last time DIY lost to Awesome Truth, Ciampa was crushed and even refused to shake hands. If they lose again… I’m worried this might be the beginning of the end for DIY as a team. I really hope not, because these two are amazing in the ring and still have so much potential.

SmackDown 17.05.2024 post image 17SmackDown 17.05.2024 - We’ve seen this moment over and over… and yet DIY still hasn’t held the tag gold on the main roster. Let’s hope this is finally their time!

Randy takes one step closer to revenge 🐍

In this tournament, Orton has two missions: win the one title he’s never held, and get revenge on Tama Tonga for what happened to Kevin Owens at Backlash. Both are within reach—but Orton’s injured leg is a huge problem. Hayes made it worse, and you just know Solo and Tonga will be lurking ringside, ready to pounce. If Orton pulls off a win next week, it’ll be a miracle, but even then, no one can guarantee that Sikoa and Loa won’t try to end his career. This is a seriously dangerous situation for the Legend Killer. I’m super curious how he’ll survive it.s.

SmackDown 17.05.2024 post image 18SmackDown 17.05.2024 - Looking into those eyes, I can truly see how dangerous and unpredictable this man is.

Another great episode of SmackDown if you ask me. The Blue Brand is becoming great again, even without Roman Reigns around. And when the Tribal Chief finally comes back? I hope we’ll see strong storylines and worthy challengers lined up for him to smash on his way to reclaim his gold. 🩸👑

That’s all for today. See you on Raw for the finals of the King and Queen of the Ring. It’s gonna be awesome! 🎉
